Improvement to Bedok Canal Contract 2 (Between Upper Changi Road East and Bedok Junction)

Purpose of project

The current Bedok Canal (between Upper Changi Road East and Bedok Junction) will be undergoing upgrading work to widen and deepen the canal to increase its drainage capacity.

Scope of work

With the anticipated trend of more intense storms happening more frequently, the upgrading of Bedok Canal will enhance flood protection for the estate in the long term.In tandem with the upgrading work, the canal will undergo a makeover under PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme, which aims to transform utilitarian water bodies into beautiful waterways that bring people closer to water. To be integrated holistically with the Bedok Ria Crescent and Eastwood parks, the canal will be beautified with greenery on the canal walls and ABC Waters design features such as rain gardens and vegetated swales will help promote biodiversity. More trees will be planted as part of the works and the existing playground will be upgraded. With a new performance stage, cantilevered path along the canal and additional park connector along the eastern bank of the canal, the project will create new community spaces for residents along this section of the Bedok Canal.
